Understanding the student portal

The student portal is your central place for managing classes writing assignments

Main Dashboard

The main student dashboard show all active assignments that you have been recently working on. Think of it like a shortcut for active assignments.

Classes

Your classes are the starting point for managing your assignments. Classes are in the left-side panel and organized by term and school year. To find a class, make sure that you are looking in the correct term. The classes for that term are then listed in the left-side panel.

To open a class, click on the class you want to view. Within that class you can see all of the assignments for that class.

Assignments

For each assignment in your class, students can start a paper by clicking the 'Start Paper' button. Students can also view their previous work and open grades for their papers here.

Paper/ Document

When students start a paper or document, it opens a new page where you can write. On the left-side panel of the paper or document page, you can filter through four main tabs: Outline, Sources, Edits, and Notes.

In the Outline tab, students can create an outline directly next to your actual document.

In the Sources tab, students can add sources related to their paper. This can be books, articles, websites, etc. These are helpful when a student wants to add an in-text citation.

In the Edits tab, students can view edits that were submitted from their teachers.

In the Notes tab, students can write separate notes related to their paper. Notes are not shared with teachers when a student submits their paper.

Top Bar Assignments

On the top bar of the portal, students can have multiple tabs open of their papers.
