WriteUp is a writing and assignment management platform built for schools. Teachers create and collect assignments, and students write and submit their work, all in one place. Because students write directly in WriteUp, teachers can see how each piece of writing came together, not just the finished result.
Most tools that check for AI-generated content scan a finished piece of text and estimate whether it looks like it was written by AI. WriteUp works differently. Instead of guessing from the final product, it shows teachers the process behind it: how a student started, revised, and developed their ideas over time. Think of it as an x-ray of the writing process.
This gives teachers real evidence of a student's effort and thinking, rather than a probability score they have to interpret.
WriteUp also doesn't allow for copy-pasting from outside sources. This prevents students from copying large pieces of text into the text editor. Students can however copy-paste within the text editor when the text originates within the document. This prevents more obvious forms of cheating while still allowing for a seemless editing process.
WriteUp is a closed-loop system. Students write and submit their work directly on the platform rather than uploading a document created elsewhere. Because the writing happens inside WriteUp, the platform can capture the patterns of how a piece develops, and teachers can review that process alongside the final submission.
WriteUp does this through understanding the keystroke patterns of students typing their essays. We measure that based on a number of metrics that represent authentic writing for that students particular demographic.
